REA hosts the IEA in Moscow and is presented with RuGBC's Recommendations for Green Building Legislation17.02.12 Moscow - Energy Efficiency Experts from the IEA were hosted by the REA to exchange experience on Energy Efficiency policy.Rinat Mametov from REA presented the ambitious targets of 40% reduction in Energy Intensity set in Russia and laid out the existing plans, outliningthe challenges faced by his agency to meet the targets. Dr Yamina Saheb from the IEA presented the European policy approach to Energy Efficiency, focussing on buildings, European labelling schemes and Directives. Read more details.Guy Eames presented the Green Building Council's approach towards market change. The European GBC network has a policy taskforce and is to hire an expert in Brussels. The benefits of thinking on a wider scale about buildings and their energy use were underlined. Sustainable construction techniques with voluntary benchmarking schemes - was offered as an effective policy tool. The Council's Reportwas presented, developed by its working group studying policy instruments to intervene in the market and influence its development. The report offering numerous selected instruments towards a more energy efficient and sustainable construction industry were presented and passed to the IEA & REA for their comments.
